Our Music Program

Chancel Choir

Mesa Verde's Chancel Choir sings a huge range of choral music from all styles and eras, including traditional hymns, contemporary pieces, and sacred classics. We especially love singing in harmony and sharing our music in worship. We rehearse weekly, sing most Sundays, and prepare two concerts annually: one for Christmas and one during Spring. The Spring concert's theme varies yearly from Broadway revues, to retrosceptives on specific composers, to choral masterworks.

No experience? No worries! We offer a four-week “New Singer Orientation” class for those interested in building their musical literacy. Email katie@mesaverdeumc.org for more information.

We believe every voice matters in our musical family!

Sanctuary Bells is a group of volunteer musicians playing contemporary music and sacred hymns arranged for English Hand Bells and chimes. We play once a month on Sunday mornings to enhance the worship experience of Mesa Verde United Methodist Church. We also play for special occasions and holidays.

We have ringers with years of experience, as well as newcomers just learning to read music. All skill levels are welcome!

We rehearse on Monday nights from 7-9 pm, late August through May. Please contact the church office if you'd like more information.

Here's what our members say

Choir for me is life-giving. When life feels more chaotic, music is what calms my mind and heart. It makes me feel both alive and at peace. Choir is one form of the music in my soul. Music cries when our tears refuse to fall. It is the sound that holds more joy than anything else I know. The people here are my family; we love each other deeply. I’m incredibly grateful for their presence in my life..”

- Jen, Chancel Choir member

I joined hand bell choir because I wanted to try something new, to continue to develop my musicality, and to grow my relationships with my fellow ringers. After being in bell choir for just over a year, I've learned how to read bass clef, learned more about music theory after not being in any choir for over four years, and have gained new friendships along the way. It's fun, challenging in ways that feel rewarding, and a wonderful way to spend Monday nights! I recommend it to anyone, no matter how confident they feel with reading music or performing.
