OCTOBER FOOD DRIVE FOR FRESH BEGINNINGS. Mark your calendars! In October, we will support Fresh Beginnings and its Fall Food Drive. Fresh Beginnings is aiming to provide Thanksgiving dinner boxes to 1,400 needy families. This is a monumental task! We would like to help in reaching this lofty goal. Once again, we reach out to those less fortunate. We will be collecting October 12-26. You may leave food items in the church office Tuesday-Thursday from 9am-3pm and Friday 9am-1pm. Alternately, you can leave food items in the Narthex on Sunday mornings.
The following items are needed for each box:
Cake mix
Ready-made frosting
Stuffing mix
Canned cranberry sauce (regular size)
Canned yams (14 oz)
Cream of chicken soup (regular size)
Gravy mix
Dry mashed potatoes
Thank you in advance for your generous food donations to help local families celebrate Thanksgiving!
RED CROSS BLOOD DRIVE – September 29 from 11:30 am-4:30 pm
The Missions Committee will be hosting our monthly Red Cross Blood Drive in the Fellowship Hall. Sign up online at redcrossblood.org. A donation time will be provided.
THANK YOU—At the August blood drive, 15 people donated and we collected 13 pints of blood, which will be saving up to 39 lives in Southern California. Thank you for supporting the Red Cross and its life-saving mission. Your generosity is especially meaningful during the summer months, when blood donations drop to critically low levels. Your contributions help ensure that patients in need will receive the care they depend on.
Thank you for your continued support. MVUMC has donated more than 500 gallons.
UPCOMING MISSION BUCKS
SEPTEMBER MISSION BUCKS will support Habitat for Humanity of Orange County, part of a global, nonprofit housing organization dedicated to eliminating substandard housing locally and worldwide through constructing, rehabilitating, and preserving homes. This is achieved by advocating for fair and just housing policies, and by providing training and access to resources to help families improve their shelter conditions. Habitat for Humanity was founded on the conviction that every man, woman, and child should have a simple, durable place to live in dignity and safety, and that decent shelter in decent communities should be a matter of conscience and action for all.
OCTOBER MISSION BUCKS will support Fresh Beginnings, a faith based, multi-denominational, volunteer organization in Orange County that provides assistance to those experiencing homelessness and near homelessness, including veterans and their families. Basic needs such as food, personal hygiene items, access to local shelters, education in job interview skills, and basic computer skill programs are offered. The organization extends compassion and goodwill to all regardless of race, religion, or ethnicity. Your contribution will enable the organization to assist families and vets in need, as well as support local community shelters.
Thank you in advance for your financial support.
