ONGOING FOOD DRIVE FOR COSTA MESA

As food shortages become more acute in our community, MVUMC has an opportunity to provide shelf-stable food on a regular basis to Share Ourselves (SOS) in Costa Mesa.

Examples of food for donation include:

—Rice, pasta, dried beans, boxed Mac and Cheese

—Boxed cereal; oatmeal packets

—Canned vegetables; tuna in pouches

—Peanut butter

—Snacks such as crackers, granola bars, cookies

—Applesauce in small sizes (6-pack)

—Juice boxes; instant coffee

Donations can be placed in the large tub in the church Narthex. Please consider making donations as you feel led, possibly when you find something on sale. We will get food to SOS on a routine schedule. Thank you for partnering with you on this worthwhile endeavor. Our congregation continues to generously support all of the Missions programs, sharing God’s love with those in need.

FINAL BLOOD DRIVE HELD IN JUNE

Mesa Verde United Methodist Church hosted its final American Red Cross blood drive after more than four decades of extraordinary partnership and service to the community. Since 1983, we have hosted 166 blood drives and helped collect more than 5,129 units of blood. The impact of these donations reaches far beyond the numbers, helping save and improve the lives of countless patients and supporting families in times of critical need through the generosity of our congregation and volunteers.

For 40 years, our church has demonstrated what it truly means to serve, opening our doors time and again to support Red Cross blood drives and help ensure patients in need have lifesaving blood. By donating blood, our community has stepped up, given back, and acted as true heroes for hospital patients who depend on generous blood donors every single day.

THANK YOU TO EVERYONE WHO HAS SUPPORTED THIS PROGRAM OVER THE YEARS!

UPCOMING MISSION BUCKS:

AUGUST MISSION BUCKS–UMCOR MISSIONARY IN JAPAN

Mission Bucks for August Will Support Ronald Julian, our missionary in Japan. Mr. Julian is a missionary with the General Board of Global Ministries of the United Methodist Church serving as a chaplain with the International Seafarers Ministry in Yokohama, Japan. The Seafarers Ministry was set up to provide pastoral care, counseling, and practical assistance to sailors who may be at sea for many months with little contact with family and the outside world. Your support will be appreciated by those who are important in making our way of life possible.

THANK YOU FOR SUPPORTING HOMELESS & AT-RISK POPULATIONS IN COSTA MESA & ORANGE COUNTY

JOIN US IN PRAYER FOR COSTA MESA

We want to come alongside other churches, leaders, and residents of Costa Mesa to foster city-wide transformation, unity, and collaboration and to address spiritual, relational, and practical challenges. When we seek God, he unites hearts, renews vision, and releases breakthrough for Costa Mesa. Prayer points will be posted on an ongoing basis.

Thanks for keeping the prayer wheel turning. Let's prayer for our city's pastors, churches, and neighbors:

—Pray for each pastor to encounter God in a deeper way, and for their communities to deepen in closeness with God in 2026.

—Pray for spiritual protection and blessing over every church.

—Pray for a culture of prayer to grow across all churches and denominations in the city.

—Pray for pastors to take ownership of pursuing real unity in the city.

—Pray for neighbors to commit to kindness, connection and community.

—Pray for barriers between neighbors to fall away (cultural, racial or political).

"Love your neighbor as yourself." Matthew 22:39

SCHOOL SUPPLY COLLECTION FOR SHARE OURSELVES A GREAT SUCCESS!

Thank you to all who supported our recent collection of school supplies donated to SOS (Share Ourselves)! We filled a pallet with eight large boxes overflowing with supplies. Thank you for your generous support. Located in Costa Mesa, SOS provides high-quality medical care and essential services to those in need within our community. These donations enhanced SOS's Back-to-School Backpack Distribution and First-in-Family College Readiness programs. These initiatives equip children and young adults—from kindergarten to college—with the tools they need to succeed academically.
