ONGOING FOOD DRIVE FOR COSTA MESA

As food shortages become more acute in our community, MVUMC has an opportunity to provide shelf-stable food on a regular basis to Share Ourselves (SOS) in Costa Mesa.

Examples of food for donation include:

—Rice, pasta, dried beans, boxed Mac and Cheese

—Boxed cereal; oatmeal packets

—Tuna in pouches

—Peanut butter

—Instant coffee

—Snacks such as crackers, granola bars, cookies

—Applesauce in small sizes (6-pack)

—Juice boxes

Donations can be placed in the large tub in the church Narthex. Please consider making donations as you feel led, possibly when you find something on sale. We will get food to SOS on a routine schedule. Thank you for partnering with you on this worthwhile endeavor. Our congregation continues to generously support all of the Missions programs, sharing God’s love with those in need.

UPCOMING MISSION BUCKS

MAY MISSION BUCKS–IMPERIAL BEACH NEIGHBORHOOD CENTER

May Mission Bucks will support the Imperial Beach Neighborhood Center. The program, directed by Pastor John Griffin, was born out of the Imperial Beach United Methodist Church. In July 2018, the church closed and launched this public community charity to carry on and expand the church's outreach. The mission and vision of the Center is “to nurture hope and empower people to create a community in action.” In conjunction with other community programs, the Center’s activities include free food distribution to low-income individuals and families, maintaining a food pantry, providing garden plots for community members to raise vegetables, and providing periodic classes on preparing healthy meals. In addition, the homeless aspect of the program offers shower facilities on Saturday mornings where clean clothes, toiletries, and ready-to-eat food items are available. The Center also participates in the Interfaith Shelter Network Program. Our Mission Bucks contribution will help enable this program to continue its vital work in assisting those in need.

THANK YOU FOR SUPPORTING HOMELESS & AT-RISK POPULATIONS IN COSTA MESA & ORANGE COUNTY

JOIN US IN PRAYER FOR COSTA MESA

We want to come alongside other churches, leaders, and residents of Costa Mesa to foster city-wide transformation, unity, and collaboration and to address spiritual, relational, and practical challenges. When we seek God, he unites hearts, renews vision, and releases breakthrough for Costa Mesa. Prayer points will be posted on an ongoing basis.

Thanks for keeping the prayer wheel turning. Let's begin with prayer for our city's pastors:

Pray for each pastor to encounter God in a deeper way, and for their communities to deepen in closeness with God in 2026.

Pray for spiritual protection and blessing over every church.

Pray for pastors to put down church/denominational differences, and take ownership of pursuing real unity in the city.
