Christian Education

At Mesa Verde UMC, our children and youth have an opportunity to explore spirituality and how it compares to life outside the church. In a world where they're told that nothing is ever enough and peer pressure is fierce, they'll have a chance to get their head on straight, figure out where they want to go, what kind of person they want to be, and what mark they want to leave on those around them as they transition into adulthood. They'll hear and discuss and dissect the kinds of stories that they will keep with them their entire lives, stories that will help them see how God makes sense, and how God's love works in the gritty world they're entering.

Mesa Verde UMC is into living our Christian beliefs, and we offer our children and youth opportunities to be involved locally, nationally, and globally. Recent projects have included:

  • Making get-well cards for our members who are ill

  • Making cookies to serve during Red Cross blood mobile drives

  • Collecting shoes for orphanages overseas

  • Gathering school supplies for children in the community

  • Packing emergency relief kits for the victims of disasters

  • Sending care packages to our troops around the globe

  • Participating in CROP walks
  • Going on missions to build and repair homes and churches in the U.S. and Mexico

Confirmation classes are held every year. While all members and friends of the church, no matter their age, are invited to the communion table, the two-year program helps our youth understand the basis of Methodism and the significance of the Feast as a chance to renew and reinvigorate their faith on a regular basis.
